: : Hey you guys, before anybody bags the title of squat historian, I'd like to remind you that I was also a resident of the house in Church Road, with Odd Jobs tarts boudoir and ensuite pink corner bath. In fact it was me who found the place and opened it with little Joe and OJ, Scratch, Danny and Pablo the dog moved in with us. We had been living in a house in St Margrets, I was newly pregnant, and took the basement room, which was a bit daft as it had once been a kitchen and had no door, there was another room down there and all and sundry used to traipse through. I lived at ground level on cushions on the floor, and had a low table above which hung an old cast iron candelabra. Being a shorty, it never got me but many people who visited me down there bore the scar of that candelabra on their forehead...They'd sit there, get stoned then stand up, it got them in the third eye every time! maybe thats why nobody seems to remember I was there! I also remember dirty Dave and the night of the fire. Was that Church Road? Wherever it was I recall crawling in under the smoke to try to rouse him, but I couldn't had to get somebody else to get him out, I remember there being a lot of reluctance to get him, unfortunately I can't remember who the heroes were?? Danny?? I moved on from Church Road to the Bingham house Hotel, over the river from the ice rink. I lived in the old ballroom which had a big round window, I was still living there after my daughter Robin was born in Dec 1977. She will be 30 this year, how time flies!! memories haha I do remember you Rory and your platform shoes! Take care and love to all Tess xxxx

: i remember little-joe he was another northerner [troublet-mill lol] if i remember with a pixie hat te -boot once he returned from a visit to the church next door anouncing in a dramatic jolly way that he had heard the bells were calling him so he had to go !!! wasnt he briggs assistant in the GR caff at some point?brigg had a red ford-anglia van that made weekly runs to the richmond dole office as well i recall.
I was pondering the night of the fire last night and I believe I have got it confused with a similar incident that occured at the Bingham Hotel. A tall dark skinny guy called (Mad) Jim he was a man of few words and had an eerie edge to him I believe he was a friend of Liz Neate and one time lived in number 12 Grosvenor Rd. There was also a fire at the house in St. Margrets.... Broadway Ave??? I lived in the kitchen there too, junkie guy caming wandering in one night and lent a candle against my bookshelves! I eoke up later to find my bed on fire, Ed came to my rescue. Tess
