Not PC and possibly an anecdote

queers, junkies, gypsies and the hygienically challenged what about cripples?

Pre GR I shared flats with a l'Auberge institution - Crippled Eddie. All this nostalgia lark started me thinking about him and what he was doing. Does anyone know? I moved to Richmond in 1970 after living in Ireland (anarchist, hippie commune on John Lennon's island)and moved into a flat shared with, amongst others, Eddie. It is alleged that we used go down to the supermarket at dawn and load up his disabled carriage with the sacks of vegetables left outside.
That's not the anecdote though. Eddie and I went down to Bath where I purchased a kilo of herbal substances. Traveling back on the M4, with me squeezed into the wheelchair space, on my back with my legs in the air. We were, quite rightly, pulled over by the cops as it is illegal to travel in a disabled carriage on a motorway. It is also illegal to carry passengers - anywhere. We were taken to the nearest cop shop and charged with all that plus possession of drugs. But as it turned out and much to our surprise the herd was free of the taint of cannabis.
Being ripped off can be a good thing.
