Thanks for the nice comments but all I was doing at that time was learning the mechanics without a musical direction to put them in. Near the end of my time there LB gave me a John McLaughlin tape (Birds of Fire) and Andy Anderson played me a bit of Weather Report (Sweetnighter). That changed things a bit but it took some years of assimilation.
Which John by the way?
